Hatfield’s principles of weight reduction were commonly seen across all his designs – including basketball, running, and training. It featured a visible Nike Air Max cushion, an enlarged tongue, and “NIKE AIR” logo on the heel, but it also introduced a netting on the upper and plastic lace eyelet “wings” to reduce weight. The shoe shared many similarities to its predecessor, the Air Jordan 3. This was the second shoe that Tinker designed for MJ, and throughout the year, four color ways were released: “White/Cement,” “Black/Cement,” “Military Blue,” and “Fire Red.” The sneakers originally retailed for $110 USD and were designed by Tinker Hatfield.
